We all want to experience optimum health. We also desire and seek that the lives of our loved ones would also be disease and pain free. However, in this new age of medicine and scientific discoveries, our population as a whole, is becoming sicker and sicker. We are being plagued by more diseases than every before and Cancer and Heart Disease is ever increasing as well.

So with all of this modern science and medicine, why is it that they are not addressing the fact that over 250 diseases are associated with a low pH (or low oxygen) at the cellular level? It is with all of nature that there must be a careful balance with pH, which is to say, the potential of hydrogen. Farmers must watch the pH of the soil or lose crops and Aquarium keepers must monitor the pH of the water or the fish will die. As with plants and fish and other things in nature, the human body is not any different. When the body’s pH lowers, below a level of 6.0, then there is the opportunity for pathogens to stand in the way of proper cell function…in other words, dis-ease can be the result.

We take in many toxins in our modern day living. Some take drugs (all chemically based), breath polluted air, come in contact with molds and other fungi and bacteria, eat chemically preserved foods, drink chemically treated water, cleanse our bodies with chemically laced shampoos and soaps, and others smear toxic creams on their faces… and this we call “make-up”.

The toxins are gumming up our cells, The cells need to be clean and free of  chemicals, bacteria and viruses in order to function at optimum levels.

So, you say, I use colon cleaners, or oral chelation, or drink oxygenated water or do deep breathing exercises or eat a diet that is rich in high pH foods. Well, these methods are all good for helping to rid the body of toxic wastes, I would not discard a one of them, but these methods can take time, many months, even years to clear out your system of toxicity. If you are sick, if you are in pain, or if you are suffering with allergies, you really need something to work for you very quickly so that your body can begin to restore your health. Read more

bierIf you downed one too many while watching the Super Bowl, here’s at least one reason to hold your head high: Drinking beer can be good for your health.

But seriously, a new analysis of 100 commercial beers shows the hoppy beverage is a significant source of dietary silicon, a key ingredient for bone health.

Though past research has suggested beer is chockfull of silicon, little was known about how silicon levels varied with the type of beer and malting process used. So a pair of researchers took one for the team and ran chemical analyses on beer’s raw ingredients. They also picked up 100 commercial beers from the grocery store and measured the silicon content. tap-waterCorporate interests are eyeing our water. From wastewater to drinking water, big business is looking to cash in on public water systems and they’ve got a new tactic: They’re using desperate economic times to convince city officials that they should place a corporation between families and their ability to eat, drink, and clean.

Take Akron, Ohio, for example. In September 2008 I wrote an article for Alternet about a ballot measure in Akron where voters were asked whether to lease the city’s wastewater system to a corporation in return for an immediate, one-time payment. The plan was roundly defeated. But more importantly, as the article suggested, the lease signaled a new direction for water privatization in the U.S. This involved a collaboration between water companies and Wall Street to snatch up control of water infrastructure for the better part of a century. Paralyzing the “frown” muscles also inhibits the ability to understand anger and sadness.

pelosiAnd here I thought my Botoxed friends were happy, mellow, and sweet-tempered because a couple of injections of a neurotoxin had eliminated their frown lines, knocked years off their apparent age, and made them no longer look “tired and unapproachable,” as the company’s Web site cheerfully puts it. (If someone starts selling makeup named “Unapproachable,” send me a case. But I digress.) But no! According to an amusing little study, by paralyzing the frown muscles that ordinarily are engaged when we feel angry, Botox short-circuits the emotion itself. Read more

strangeloveTo those who have grown up in countries considered “free”, the vision of George Orwell’s 1984 strikes us as a threatening nightmare, a warning of a not-so-distant future where freedom is but a word. Like seed perpetually scorched before it even has a chance to take root, all that it means to be human is actively degraded, denied, and punished at even the smallest display. Read more

detoxIt’s easy to dismiss ‘detox’ as a fad, as some product claims are exaggerated. But detoxing, as a practice, has been around for centuries

For some, a detox means giving up booze for a few weeks in January. For others, it means colonic irrigation, supplements, super healthy food and/or juices and saying ‘no’ to meat, dairy, wheat, sugar and caffeine and other substances considered ‘toxins’.

The problem with ‘detox’ is that the word is used to cover a wide array of both products and diets - from ‘detox’ shampoos and teabags to weekend juice fasts and two-week detox plans. Read more

indiaThe Indian minister for the environment today imposed a six-month moratorium on the launch of a genetically modified variety of aubergine, known locally as brinjal, saying that further scientific research was needed before permission could be given for its commercial cultivation.

Jairam Ramesh said he had taken note of “tremendous opposition” from state governments within India, broad public resistance and the lack of a scientific consensus. “This would be the first GM vegetable crop anywhere in the world so I have been very sensitive and I have arrived at this decision which is responsible to science and responsible to society,” he said tonight. monsanto-logoIn the 2010 growing season Monsanto plans to unleash its latest Frankenfood experiment on the American and Canadian public, a new version of genetically mutated corn with eight abnormal gene traits called Genuity SmartStax corn. It is the culmination of an astonishing scandal that has been steadily building over the past decade. During this time Monsanto’s mutated seeds have grown to 90% of the U.S. soy crop and 85% of the corn crop – and wheat is next on their agenda. Their efforts have been marked by corporate bullying and have drawn the attention of the Justice Department who is conducting an antitrust investigation. All the while they have been spending millions on lobbying to fast track their agenda before the American public even realizes what hit them. Monsanto is making an ominous power play to corner the worldwide market on food and seeds. In the process they are adversely altering the very nature of food itself. Read more

dairydairyOn some bureaucrat’s desk in President Obama’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB), sits a document that has the power to either destroy the nation’s 1,800 family-operated organic dairy farms or come to their rescue.

In the early 2000s, virtually all of the nation’s organic dairy farmers - not to mention the millions of consumers willing to pay a premium for organic products - agreed that milk certified as organic by the United States Department of Agriculture had to come from cows that had access to pasture. sewage-sludgeGreg Kester, Natalie Sierra and Liz Ostoich, along with municipal governments across the U.S. in need desperately of getting rid of the noxious stuff called sewage sludge, want Americans to believe that that toxic brew is good for you. Specifically, these operators are waging a massive PR campaign to get farmers and gardeners, including school gardens, to “fertilize” their veggies with sewage sludge. Their campaign would have us believe that the chemicals in sewage sludge—thousands of them present in every degree of hazardous and toxic combination—are somehow magically gone from sewage sludge once you “apply” it to your garden.
